Yushun Tower Guide | Free Admission, Hours, Views and Re・Cord Museum Route

Yushun Tower is a free observation tower at the center of Re・Cord Museum. Even a short visit can provide views across Niikappu, but visibility depends on weather and use follows the museum's opening days and equipment status. Plan it as part of the museum rather than as an independent outdoor observatory.

SECTIONYushun Tower is the free observation tower at the center of Re・Cord Museum.

Yushun Tower is a 36 m observation tower in the center of Re・Cord Museum, with a 360-degree observation room about 25 m above ground. Admission is free, but it is not an outdoor structure that stays open independently at all times. Use it according to the current-year Re・Cord Museum calendar and indoor guidance.

For the museum's exhibits, admission and overall visit time, see the existing 'What is Re・Cord Museum?' article. This guide focuses on whether to go up the tower, how much time to allow, and what to confirm first.

The tower is a landmark from a distance, but its entrance and use are part of the museum's indoor circulation. Do not search for a separate exterior entrance or approach the tower after closing; enter from the front and confirm current use.

The observation room is reached by an elevator with a capacity of nine. Waiting during crowds or shutdowns for inspection are not fixed in official information, so do not assume immediate access. Wheelchair users, strollers and people with large luggage should also confirm staff instructions on the day.

SECTIONViews of the Pacific, Hidaka Mountains and horse-country landscape

Official guidance describes views toward the Pacific Ocean, Hangandate Cape, Hidaka Mountains, Thoroughbred Ginza and horse-farm scenery. Seeing sea, mountains, town and horse country in one view is part of the tower's appeal. Clouds, fog, snow, backlight and seasonal vegetation can greatly change visibility.

This is not a place where a particular ranch or horse is guaranteed to be visible. Treat it as a place to understand distant land use and terrain; do not occupy a window for a long time while trying to identify private ranches or use a telephoto lens.

Rather than identifying every visible place name, first look broadly toward the sea, mountains, town center and horse-country directions. Comparing those directions with your later drive helps understand how the next destination relates geographically.

SECTIONSeason, weather and time of day for easier viewing

For distant views, check not only precipitation but also cloud base, fog, wind and direction of sunlight. Even on clear days haze can hide mountains, and in winter you must confirm open days and road conditions. There is no official 'best hour', so this guide does not categorically recommend morning or evening.

  • For distant views: check cloud, fog and visibility

  • For brighter sea views: check backlighting direction on site

  • For photography: prioritize window reflections and other visitors

  • In bad weather: do not force the climb; switch to indoor exhibits

After rain or between seasons the scenery may be dramatic, but floors and entrances can be wet and strong wind can reduce perceived temperature. Judge not only the view but whether everyone can move safely inside and wait comfortably.

SECTIONOrder for combining the tower with Re・Cord Museum

For a short visit, check tower availability after entering; if it is open and not crowded, go to the observation room first and then briefly visit the free Re・Cord Plaza. If listening to records is your main purpose, check reception conditions for listening booths or the visitor course first and fit the tower around those times.

The tower and music experiences use different fee systems. Yushun Tower and Re・Cord Plaza are free, while the visitor course, listening booth and jukebox have fees. Compare those options in A41, 'How to Listen to Records at Re・Cord Museum.'

If a paid activity has a last-reception time, spending too long at the tower first may cause you to miss it. On arrival, identify the most time-constrained item among the tower, visitor course, booth and cafe, then fit free areas between them.

SECTIONIf using the cafe, check its operation separately.

The current town page lists Cloud9 cafe as 10:00–17:00. However, its open days, menu and sold-out status do not necessarily match the tower or museum exactly. If the cafe is the main purpose, confirm same-day operation separately. Do not use the old name 'Kissa Breath' as the current name.

Adding food changes both visit time and budget. Decide whether the cafe is a rest after the view or the main meal, and keep a roadside-station or other town option for days the cafe is closed.

SECTIONPhotography and consideration when crowded

Detailed rules for photography, tripods or professional shooting in the observation room cannot be confirmed from public pages alone. Do not make a blanket claim that photography is permitted; prioritize on-site signs and staff guidance. Do not block windows or passages for long periods, and consider privacy if people appear in frame.

For the broader idea of photographing Niikappu from safe public locations, use the existing photo-spots guide. At the tower, prioritize allowing other visitors time at the windows over getting a perfect shot.

Indoor lights and clothing can reflect in window photos. Do not press equipment against the glass or spread large cloths to block reflections if that interferes with others. Shoot briefly handheld and give the place to people who want to look at the scenery.

SECTIONExamples for 30- and 60-minute visits

About 60 minTower → Re・Cord Plaza → look around and choose nextWant a small music experience too
More than 60 minAdd paid visit or listeningMusic-focused visit

These are itinerary estimates, not official visit durations. Elevator waits, crowds, reception and cafe use can change them. Do not connect them too tightly to your next reservation or bus.

With children or older companions, include the elevator waiting area, toilets and seating in your timing, not only time inside the observation room. Everyone does not need to go up; if some wait downstairs, choose a meeting point.

On a short time slot, do not extend the visit just because visibility is poor. Keep your planned departure time.

With 30 minutes, decide before arrival whether the tower or free museum area matters more. Even with 60 minutes, if waiting grows, drop one item and protect the next transport or reservation. For short visits, reliably experiencing either the view or music usually works better than trying to do everything.

SECTIONRecheck current availability before departure

  • Current-year Re・Cord Museum open-day calendar

  • Yushun Tower hours and equipment status

  • Weather, fog and road conditions

  • Same-day operation if using Cloud9 cafe

  • On-site notices about photography, crowds and safety

Yushun Tower is easy to visit because it is free, but open days, maintenance and weather can change the conditions. Check the town's official page or official social media before departure, and keep Re・Cord Plaza, the Local History Museum or another indoor option if the tower cannot be used.

If equipment is unavailable, do not wait indefinitely around the building. Move to free indoor areas or another facility. If no reopening time is posted during maintenance, staff guidance takes priority.

Do not automatically apply the availability of one service to the others in the same building. Check the tower, visitor course, booths and cafe separately and rebuild the order using only what is available.

If availability cannot be confirmed, do not wait with the tower as a fixed assumption. Switch to free indoor areas or another indoor facility and protect the rest of the day's schedule.
