SECTIONNishihakutsu Hills Park has a 36-hole park-golf course.
Nishihakutsu Hills Park is a 36-hole park-golf facility, and the town official page provides a course map. Travelers can consider using it, but park golf differs from standard golf in equipment, pace and distance. First-time players should prioritize on-site signs and official rules and keep safe spacing from the group ahead.
This article covers general traveler use only. Procedures for tournaments, exclusive group use, private booking or event operation cannot be confirmed from the public page alone; consult the manager in advance.
Because experience levels vary, agree on a pace that everyone can safely follow before competing on score. With first-time players, explain only essential points at the first hole: order of play, where to stand and the safe swing area.
SECTION2026 operating season and seasonal hours
For fiscal 2026, the course is currently listed as open April 15–November 15 with no regular closed day during the season. Hours vary with daylight, so check which period your travel date falls into.
| Period | Hours |
|---|---|
| April 15 | 9:00–18:00 |
| April 16–May 31 | 7:00–18:00 |
| June 1–August 31 | 7:00–19:00 |
| September 1–September 30 | 7:00–18:00 |
| October 1–end of season | 7:00–17:00 |
These are 2026 conditions. Opening/closing dates and hour bands may change in later years. Do not start all 36 holes close to closing; allow time for sunset, temperature, travel and any later onsen reception.
Even in seasons with early opening, consider breakfast, travel, temperature and turf conditions. For travelers it is better to choose a stable time for light and physical condition than to arrive exactly at opening, and to leave margin for the next plan.
SECTIONFee, club rental and check-in
For 2026, use is free and rental clubs are also free. However, quantity, sizes and reservation availability are not guaranteed. If equipment is essential, confirm with the manager or bring suitable gear. Before playing, sign the user register and follow reception/on-site signs.
If several people will use rental clubs, confirm how many are needed, handedness and whether child-size equipment exists. Be ready to rotate clubs or shorten the activity if there are not enough for everyone.
When receiving rental clubs, check where to return them and the end-of-use procedure. Do not take equipment away from the course, and report damage or loss to the manager rather than handling it silently. When sharing, assign equipment clearly to avoid leaving it behind.
SECTIONWhat first-time players should bring and wear
Prepare flexible clothing, shoes with stable grip, a hat, water, insect protection, sun protection and cold-weather layers according to season. Confirm rental status for essential balls/clubs, and do not leave valuables or luggage on the course.
Stable athletic shoes
A layer for temperature changes
Water and any needed snack
Hat, sunscreen and insect repellent
A device to check rain clouds and lightning
Advance confirmation if using rental clubs
The official page links to rule materials. Do not invent local rules in this article; follow on-site guidance for order, safe distance and consideration for the group ahead.
After rain, shoes and clothes can get dirty, and mornings/evenings can be cool even in summer. Spare shoes, a towel and a bag for dirty items make it easier to move on to an onsen or the next attraction.
If someone has health concerns, plan a short trial from the start and allow an easy stop partway through.
SECTIONCourse character and a reasonable way to play
Do not make completing all 36 holes the only goal. Divide the course according to companions' stamina, experience, temperature and remaining time. With beginners, use the first few holes to confirm technique and pace, and yield according to local rules when others are waiting.
A course map is available from the town official page, but maintenance and course operation can change. Link back to the official PDF rather than republishing a fixed map image.
If companions become tired, reduce the number of holes and finish. Free use does not mean a longer session is automatically better. Enjoy the scenery and conversation while keeping a pace that does not hold up following groups.
SECTIONHow to respond to bear sightings, bad weather or closures
The town page states that the course may close if bears are present. If closure signs, access restrictions or manager instructions are in place, do not use the course, wait nearby to see what happens, or approach a restricted area. Confirm the latest status with the manager.
No fixed severe-weather closure threshold is published. In lightning, strong wind, heavy rain, dense fog or sudden temperature drops, confirm with the manager even if the course appears open and do not start if safety cannot be assured.
Do not enter surrounding grass to look for bear tracks or sightings yourself. If closure information exists, wait until the facility completes safety checks, and do not decide it is usable from an old social-media post.
SECTIONCombine with Niikappu Onsen
Nishihakutsu Hills Park is easy to combine with Niikappu Onsen. Playing park golf first, then changing clothes and hydrating before heading to the onsen separates exercise from rest. Check the onsen's opening, day-use reception and fees separately from park golf.
For detailed bathing conditions, use the existing Niikappu Onsen Re-Code no Yu day-use guide. If bathing immediately after exercise does not suit your condition, allow time to cool down and hydrate.
Before entering the onsen, wipe off sweat and organize muddy shoes/clothing so dirt is not carried inside. If a companion does not play, avoid making them wait for a long time at the onsen or nearby; decide separate activities, meeting time and communication.
SECTIONGroups and tournaments must consult the manager in advance.
For groups, schools, community events or tournaments, do not assume the same procedures as ordinary use will be enough. Organize participant numbers, desired date/time, format, equipment, vehicles, rain policy and any exclusive area, then consult Nishihakutsu Hills Park. Do not guess that reservations are unnecessary, private booking is possible, or a tournament can be held free of charge.
If combining BASE lodging, lodging reservations and park-golf confirmation are separate. List each contact, confirmation status and cancellation/change response separately in the itinerary.
Even without a tournament, a group of more than around a dozen moving together can affect general users. Prepare options such as staggered start times, dividing groups or bringing equipment, and follow the facility's decision.

The specific season and fees in this article are for 2026. For a later year's trip, always return to the town official page and check closure information again on the visit day. If you cannot confirm, call before traveling rather than deciding after arriving.
If the official page update date is far from your visit date, do not rely on the page alone to decide that it is open. If a phone check finds a closure or shortage of rental equipment, change to the onsen or an indoor facility.
If operation cannot be confirmed or health/weather is uncertain, switch to an alternative before traveling. Prioritize safety over the fact that use is free or over completing a planned number of holes.
