Scheduling Baths, Wash Areas and Toilets for Shared Group Stays

During a shared group stay, congestion builds quickly when everyone starts bathing, brushing teeth and getting ready at the same time. Because the number of facilities cannot be increased, the group should decide the order of use, waiting areas, staggered preparation and final checks in advance.

SECTIONConfirm facility conditions first

BASE NIIKAPPU provides shared sleeping rooms as well as shared bathing areas, shared washbasins and separate shared toilets for men and women. However, public information alone does not confirm the number of fixtures, available hours, simultaneous capacity or all house rules. Tell the facility your group size and intended use and confirm the current conditions in advance.

  • Location and available hours of baths, washbasins and toilets

  • Approximate number of people who can use each area at once

  • How use is handled by gender, age group and accompanying adults

  • Conditions for hair dryers, changing, and temporary baggage placement

  • Cleaning, quiet hours, lights-out rules and conditions for sharing with other guests

SECTIONDo not treat bathing, washing and toilet use as one schedule

Congestion can continue after bathing when everyone moves to the wash area or hair dryers at once. Treat each flow separately and stagger movement so the same group does not move together to the next area.

StepWhy congestion occursHow to spread use
Before bathingPreparing clothes or forgetting towelsPrepare in the room before moving
Bath/changing areaToo many people entering at once or mixed-up belongingsUse small groups with set start and finish times
Wash areaBrushing teeth, skin care and hair dryersDo not send everyone there immediately after bathing
ToiletsConcentration after waking and before departureStagger waking, breakfast and departure preparation

SECTIONWork backward from the next morning’s departure time

Let vehicles or activity groups leaving earliest finish getting ready first, and stagger wake-up and breakfast times. Waking everyone at once may look easier to manage, but it can overload washbasins and toilets.

  1. 01

Set the meeting time for the group leaving earliest

  2. 02

Separate the steps needed for washing, changing, breakfast and baggage checks

  3. 03

Stagger wake-up and wash-start times by group

  4. 04

Assign the final checker and a completion time

SECTIONAdjust the order for individual needs, not only equal turns

The time people need can differ because of age, physical condition, medication, assistance needs, menstruation or mobility. Do not disclose personal circumstances to the entire group; confirm only what is necessary with the person or guardian and let the responsible leader adjust the order.

SECTIONUse a call-up system instead of a waiting line

A large line in a hallway can interfere with passage and quiet hours. Have participants wait in rooms or shared spaces and let a leader call the next group. Group leaders can report completion for everyone together.

SECTIONSet rules for same-day changes

  • Which group changes first if practice or transportation is delayed

  • A separate flow for anyone who becomes unwell

  • How to handle someone returning for a forgotten item

  • Who contacts the next group when a time slot runs over

  • Who checks for forgotten items, wet floors and cleaning after use

SECTIONWhat the group representative should tell the facility before the stay

Discuss the number of guests, age mix, gender composition, arrival and departure times, preferred bathing period and any individual accommodations. Do not fill gaps in unpublished fixture counts or hours from articles or memory; finalize the schedule only after receiving the conditions for this stay from the facility.
